Vertical eXcape Climbing Center is a proud supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of the USA. We have several programs designed specifically for Scouts and we offer discounts for retail purchases for Scout troops and individuals.
Vertical eXcape is registered with the Buffalo Trace Council and Lincoln Heritage Council to teach the requirements for the Climbing Merit Badge and the Mountaineering Elective for Venturing’s Ranger Award. Both programs are in-depth studies focusing on all aspects of the vertical world. Upon completion of the program participants will have a solid foundation in rock climbing, rappelling and how to handle outdoor emergencies.
Individual Scouts or small groups can register for our Open Sign-Up days typically offered every other month. Troops with at least 4 participants can schedule their personal Merit Badge session that fits their Troops schedule. To register, a minimum two week advance notice and a $10 per Scout deposit is required. Upon registration Scouts will be issued a Climbing Merit Badge book, testing packet, and rope and webbing with which to begin practicing the required knots.
When training day comes around the Scouts are expected arrive with the test packet and online Release of Liability Form completed, to return all issued materials, and bring a blue card ready for our instructors to sign as requirements are met. A short break will be scheduled into the day, and Scouts are encouraged to bring a snack and/or drinks, or money for vending machine fare. The Scout’s $10 deposit will only be applied to the final cost of the badge if they return all of their materials in the same condition they were issued.

To receive the discount, Scouts must present their current BSA / Girl Scout registration card at the time of purchase. We look forward to supplying you with all your outdoor equipment needs.
