Update: April 6, 2021

On April 6, 2021, Governor Holcomb’s mask mandate ended. Moving forward Vertical eXcape will NOT require face coverings.

If you prefer to continue wearing a face covering that will be fine too. We want everyone to make a personal decision on what is best for them.

Update: July 14, 2020

On July 15, Mayor Winnecke’s Order for face coverings will go into effect.
Therefore, we are asking our climbing community to observe the following when they come to climb:

  1. Wear a face covering when entering and leaving the facility.
  2. Wear a face covering when spectating.
  3. Wear a face covering when socializing.

Per the Mayor’s Order there are exceptions for:

  1. Children under the age of 6.
  2. Those with medical conditions that prevent wearing a face mask.
  3. Those who are deaf or have other impairments (including being hard of hearing) or those communicating with such a person in situations when it would impede communication.
  4. People exercising or engaging in sports indoors or outdoors.

Therefore, members and guests are NOT required to wear a face covering while exercising. This includes climbing and actively resting between climbs, whether bouldering or top rope climbing. However, if you are socializing and not climbing you are required to wear a face covering.

Thank you for your assistance in helping keep our community healthy.

Update: June 15, 2020

VX re-opened to the general public on Monday, June 15th! As Indiana continues to reopen in phases, we will be implementing measures that align with guidance given by the CDC and Governor Holcomb. We ask that you help us keep our community safe by adhering to these precautionary measures as we proceed with reopening the facility to our community.

In order to operate at a reduced capacity we are requiring reservations for all first time visitors and those who have not climbed at our facility in over 6 months (members do not need to make a reservation). Please give us a call at 812-479-6887 before heading to the gym to climb. Daily climbing options with orientation times and pricing can be found here.

Please be aware of the following guidelines when you come in to climb:

  1. Wear a face covering
  2. Maintain your social distance throughout the facility
  3. Wash or sanitize your hands before, during, and after each climbing session
  4. Please check IN and OUT at the front desk for each climbing session
  5. We are maintaining an increased cleaning routine throughout the day.

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus.
Please stay home if you have exhibited any symptoms of illness such as:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Additional non-covid related regulations that will be enforced moving forward:

  1. NO barefeet throughout the facility. Please bring some comfy footwear if you plan to remove your shoes after a climb or during your supplemental workouts. This is to help maintain a hygienic environment for everyone’s health and safety.
  2. NO loose chalk. Only chalk balls or liquid chalk will be allowed. This is to help our staff with their increased cleaning routine, and to create cleaner air for everyone to breathe on a daily basis.
  3. Hand protection, such as tape or hand jammies, is required for use of the crack climbs.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon. We can’t wait to welcome back our EVV Climbing Community! As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.
